The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) re-instated the issuance of the EMC Certificate of Compliance (CoC) Scheme in 2017. The new process requires submission of test reports issued by an accredited laboratory under the SABS Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (LAS).
UL is now an authorized member of the SABS LAS and can test and issue EMC test reports to support the SABS EMC CoC process.
Under the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) between Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) and SABS, recognized third-party test laboratories can assess the conformity of electrical equipment to applicable technical regulations as defined by SABS. The bi-lateral agreement covers mutual recognition of test results performed by recognized laboratories (such as UL).
UL helps you save time and reduce compliance costs by performing and reporting the required SABS EMC CoC test results in one of our recognized laboratories.
- Save Time: You can achieve faster turnaround since you no longer have to ship samples to South Africa or require additional test set-up in-country.
- Reduce Compliance Costs: You can enjoy bundled pricing by completing required testing for multiple countries in a single project with UL.
- Local Expertise: Working with an in-country UL EMC test engineer and GMA specialist to process SABS in the same time zone.
